SMALL UPGRADES

The kitchen is where we spend most of our time preparing our meals.  It's the most comfortable place for gathering with family and friends. Therefore, it should be the area you first  consider when renovating your home.

Bathrooms are the space where we prepare ourselves for our day ahead.  A nicely renovated bathroom can be enjoyed for years and it is a great way to add value to your home.

Some other projects that can make an impact on your personal space are, re-facing of a fireplace, adding a built-in unit for extra storage and organizing, painting or updating the baseboards and door trims throughout.

Here are some things to consider when thinking about a home renovation

What types of renovations add value to your home?

Renovating the kitchen.

Adding or remodeling a bathroom

Creating a master bedroom with an en suite bath and/or walk-in closet

Adding a family room on the main floor.

Finding the right contractor

Some approaches to finding good contractors include asking for recommendations from neighbours, friends and co-workers who have had positive renovation experiences. Ask them if the contractor lived up to their expectations and delivered what was agreed to.

Materials
Scheduling
Permits

Buying your own materials may seem like a great way to save money. Your contractor is going to mark up the cost of materials and pass that added cost on to you. That’s true, but the he may get a better price than you to begin with, meaning that even after markup, you may pay the same price.

Scheduling can be affected by changes. Everyone working on the job needs to be informed of the changes so no one's working on the old plan. We all makes changes, just be aware of the potential to disrupt and delay the job.

If a contractor suggests that you can skip the permit, look for another contractor. A building permit is required for the construction and/or demolition of a new building, an addition, or material alteration of any building or structure

Warranty

The contractor’s warranty should cover the quality of the installation or construction work done, specifying what is covered and for how long. Manufacturers of products used by the contractor warrant their products to be free from defects for a specified length of time

We do quality work but it takes time so if you're looking for fast in-and-out and cheap, we're not the right fit for you.
